Individual wrestling rankings
Kyle BakerKyle Baker
103 Name Record School Class
1 Darian Cruz 25-2 Beth. Catholic So.
2 Brett Marino 27-3 Liberty Sr.
3 Cody Barbiche 28-0 Delaware Valley Sr.
4 Matt Williams 26-7 Pen Argyl So.
5 Kyle Baker 22-7 Easton Fr.

Notes:Everybody beat everybody they were supposed to this week -- Cruz over Williams, Baker over Sommer, Cruz over Israel -- so no changes in top 5. Barbiche will go for his 100th win in the Terriers' sectional match Wednesday.

Jamie WelshJamie Welsh
112 Name Record School Class
1 Zeke Moisey 26-5 Beth. Catholic Fr.
2 Anthony Cabrera 26-3 Liberty Sr.
3 Ryan Nicotra 24-2 Hackettstown Sr.
4 Gary Dinmore 21-1 Hunterdon Central Fr.
5 Chase Zemenak 18-10 Nazareth Fr.

Honorable mention: So. Ian Evans (18-14) Parkland, Fr. Josh Evans (19-4) Palmerton, So. Zach Fisher (16-14) Phillipsburg, So. Matt Gilmore (19-5) Delaware Valley, Fr. Christian Okulicz (19-10) Voorhees, Fr. Justin Pidoto (20-9) Warren Hills, Jr. Peter Stanley (19-10) Easton, Sr. Jamie Welsh (22-6) Pen Argyl.

Notes: Dinmore's emphatic 9-1 thumping of defending Region 5 champ Gary Siriday of Sayreville earns him a promotion in an increasingly crowded class. Zemenak didn't do anything wrong, beating Ian Evans and Stanley, but Dinmore's red-hot right now. Moisey edged Welsh 3-0 in the District 11 Class AA final with one arm, more or less. Gilmore fell to Siriday 8-4.

Joe DalessandroJoe Dalessandro
119 Name Record School Class
1 Randy Cruz 28-5 Beth. Catholic Jr.
2 Mike Pongracz 28-1 Delaware Valley So.
3 Josh Ortman 22-7 Parkland Fr.
4 DeMarquis Holley 21-3 Dieruff Jr.
5 Evan Disora 21-4 Easton So.

Honorable mention: Jr. Joseph Dalessandro (19-8) Pius X, Sr. Lucas Dise (20-5) Northern Lehigh, So. Grimaldi Gonzales (20-7) Liberty, Jr. Chris Greenwald (16-12) Warren Hills, So. Andrew Kaluzny (17-12) Phillipsburg, So. Tyler Kozimor (13-5) Hackettstown, So. Dillon Massington (20-6) Palmerton, So. Mike Rodgers (21-8) Central Catholic, So. George Schaffer (20-3) Bangor, So. Jesse Thorsen (20-8) Belvidere

Notes: Form held here throughout. Thorsen had one of the stranger weeks a wrestler can have, losing in OT up at 130 (!) against Lenape Valley's Nick D'Onofrio and then 3-1 to the tough Giancarlo Cruz of Hopatcong down at 112. Dalessandro drops from 125.

Nick BarzanoNick Barzano
125 Name Record School Class
1 Dylan Thorsen 25-1 Belvidere Jr.
2 Jaydon Rice 23-7 Beth. Catholic Sr.
3 Franco Ferraina 17-2 Nazareth Sr.
4 Devon Lotito 27-4 Liberty Jr.
5 Robbie Rizzolino 22-8 Easton
So.

Honorable mention: Sr. Nick Barzano (13-3) North Warren, Sr. Pat Boyle (20-8) North Hunterdon, Sr. Chris Davis (22-6) Voorhees, Sr. Mike Fake (15-4) Parkland, Sr. Kevin Guenther (19-6) Delaware Valley, Jr. Zane Heller (20-5) Northern Lehigh, Jr. Ethan Keichel (17-9) Northwestern Lehigh, Jr. Sam Oberlander (20-5) Palmerton.

Notes: Rizzolino won the Easton Lions Club Award for Most Aggressive Wrestler in the Easton-Phillipsburg match, and then dropped a very tight 3-1 decision to Ferraina; that, and his body of work move him into Top 5. Boyle keeps on winning but isn't quite ready for Top 5 yet. Davis, Oberlander and Heller hover near top group.
Mike CrawnMike Crawn
130 Name Record School Class
1 Zach Horan 30-0 Nazareth Sr.
2 Matt Lane 22-6 Phillipsburg Sr.
3 Calvin Daly 21-9 Easton Sr.
4 Matt Ortiz 18-4 Northwestern So.
5 Damien Hopper 21-1 Central Catholic Sr.

Honorable mention: Sr. Matt Boylan (17-11) Hunterdon Central, Sr. Mike Crawn (16-5) Bangor, Jr. Rich Cruz (16-9) Bethlehem Catholic, Sr. George Dalessandro (19-11) Pius X, Jr. Walter Gonsiewski (13-6) Voorhees, Jr. Javier Rivas (16-6) Dieruff, So. Mason Ryzoff (13-6) North Warren, Fr. Jesse Snyder (14-5) Palisades, Sr. Forest Touchberry (16-10) Parkland, Jr. Keith Wanamaker (19-10) Warren Hills.

Notes: Lane's 9-4 win over Daly, his 100th of his career, moves him into the No. 2 spot, or, as it is here, the No. 1 spot for EBZ (Everybody But Zach). Horan beat Daly 12-3 at team districts, where he also won his 150th career match. Gonsiewski topped Boylan. Wanamaker enjoyed a 4-0 week. Dalessandro drops from 135.

Robert NapolitanoRobert Napolitano
135 Name Record School Class
1 Mike Racciato 32-2 Pen Argyl So.
2 Greg Noll 24-7 Nazareth Sr.
3 Jason Stephen 26-8 Northampton Jr.
4 Vince Pellechia 30-1 Catasauqua Jr.
5 Derek Zehnbauer 24-4 Delaware Valley Jr.

Honorable mention:So. Mike Marano (18-14) Parkland, Jr. Mark Misczenski (15-13) Easton, Jr. Jose Morales (13-8) Dieruff, Jr. Aaron Morekin (20-6) Whitehall, Sr. Robert Napolitano (19-7) Hackettstown, Jr. Tom Scerbo (17-6) Hunterdon Central, Sr. Paul Schwartz (16-10) Freedom.

Notes: Stephen's loss to Misczenski coupled with Noll's win over the Red Rover allows us to move beyond Noll's December loss to the Konkrete Kid and jump him to second. We suspect they will meet again, a few times, to settle the 2-3 spots here. Misczenski comes back with win over Stephen.

Billy ButkaBilly Butka
140 Name Record School Class
1 Joey Rizzolino 30-3 Easton Sr.
2 Zack Wilson 17-10 Northampton Sr.
3 Ryan Todora 24-6 Beth. Catholic So.
4 Luciano Burriesci 28-8 Pen Argyl Sr.
5 Nikko Stevens 19-5 No. Lehigh Sr.

Honorable mention: Sr. Colby Barrett (17-6) Pius X, Sr. Billy Butka (19-10) Warren Hills, Jr. Cody Grohotolski (14-8) Palmerton, Jr. Ronnie Honickel (26- 1) Voorhees, So. Eric Matz (20-7) Catasauqua, Sr. Eric Seals (16-9) Allen, Sr. Rylan Watson (19-10) Phillipsburg.

Notes: Rizzolino pinned Wilson in 30 seconds at team duals, as if there was much doubt who was No. 1 here. Much to our surprise Todora did get to wrestle Burriesci and won 5-2 in one of the harder-edged, borderline-nasty bouts of the year. Should they meet again, there could be fireworks. Matz was pinned by Mike Racciato of Pen Argyl in a dual.

Victor EmbardinoVictor Embardino
145 Name Record School Class
1 Mitch Minotti 28-2 Easton Jr.
2 Chris Cancelliere 24-3 North Hunterdon Jr.
3 John Lynch 23-4 Saucon Valley Sr.
4 Justin Heller 19-7 Parkland Sr.
5 Cole Sheptock 21-6 Northampton Jr.

Honorable mention: So. Tyler Cote (16-5) Hunterdon Central, Jr. Victor Embardino (15-4) Notre Dame-Green Pond, Sr. Matt Gotzon (12-4) Southern Lehigh, So. Connor Hedash (14-8) Northern Lehigh, Sr. Kyle Kilpatrick (16-9) Wilson, Sr. Josh LaBar (26-5) Pius X.

Notes: LaBar drops from 152 and makes an immediate impression; he reversed an earlier loss to Lehighton's Anthony Farole, lost a narrow 5-4 decision to Becahi's Ryan Todora (No. 3 at 140) and is pressing for a Top 5 spot. No room quite yet, though. Minotti won the Brad Weaver Memorial Award for Outstanding Wrestler at the Easton-Phillipsburg match and spent much of the week up at 152 to help the team cause. Cancelliere was pinned by East Brunswick's Jonathon Shleyfer (22-1) on Saturday and will not be penalized for that.

Rex LutzRex Lutz
152 Name Record School Class
1 Bobby Clymer 24-4 Northwestern Sr.
2 Rex Lutz 22-6 Pen Argyl Sr.
3 Kyle DeHaut 18-7 Beth. Catholic Sr.
4 John Lambert 22-5 Northampton Sr.
5 Beau Vrancken 23-3 North Hunterdon Jr.

Honorable mention: Sr. Matt Bonshak (19-5) Whitehall, Sr. Dan Brockerhoff (19-9) Phillipsburg, Sr. Chris Carey (21-5) Hunterdon Central, So. Travis Buddock (13-5) Saucon Valley, Jr. Billy Christiansen (20-3) Wilson, So. Ty Herzog (21 -4) Northern Lehigh,, Jr. Justin Marsh (18-2) Palisades, Sr. Anthony Minotti (19-7) Easton, Jr. Mike Staufenberger (16-6) North Warren, Sr. Mike Rogers (19-11) Delaware Valley, So. Josh Young (17-5) Freedom.

Notes: The most dynamic -- or most irritating, to a ranker -- continues to bubble and churn, and the latest results have tossed up a new No. 1. Lutz's 6 -3 win over DeHaut at the D-11 team duals is enough to dethrone the Golden Hawk and boost Clymer, who has beaten Lutz and Brockerhoff and not lost to any current area 152-pounder, to the top. Lambert went up to 160 and was beaten 15-5 by Easton's Mason McIntyre; no penalty for that. Carey, though, fell to Voorhees' Jadaen Bernstein at 160 5-2 and since Lutz has earned a top-5 spot, down goes Carey, for now. Anybody's weight class, really.

Nathan DowNathan Dow
160 Name Record School Class
1 Elliot Riddick 25-6 Beth. Catholic Jr.
2 Ryan Krecker 18-1 Nazareth Sr.
3 Mike Ottinger 21-2 Parkland Sr.
4 Mason McIntyre 17-1 Easton Sr.
5 Jadaen Bernstein 27-0 Voorhees So.

Honorable mention: Jr. Jon Blank (19-2) Notre Dame, Jr. Nathan Dow (22-4) Belvidere, Jr. V.J. Delmonico (19-11) Phillipsburg, So. Dave Fenton (15-9) Hunterdon Central, Sr. Luke Gotzon (18-3) Southern Lehigh, Sr. Tim Kunkel (15 -8) Northampton, Jr. Nick Maddalena (18-3) Delaware Valley, Sr. Jason Rothman (20-5) Hackettstown, Sr. Kyle Sorensen (23-6) Northwestern Lehigh, Jr. Richard York (14-5) Saucon Valley.

Notes: Krecker's decisive 6-2 victory over Ottinger at team duals shakes up the top 5. Krecker has two wins over Ottinger but lost to Riddick, who has lost to Ottinger. Taking it all together, and looking at other quality wins, Riddick grabs the top spot with Krecker second. McIntyre won a huge match against Nazareth's Eric Wolak giving up 13 pounds in the D-11 AAA final. Bernstein also sent a message with a 5-2 defeat of Hunterdon Central's Chris Carey who bumped up.

Eric WolakEric Wolak
171 Name Record School Class
1 Colin Hedash 22-2 No. Lehigh Sr.
2 Jake Maffucci 19-2 Hunterdon Central Sr.
3 Tyler Horn 28-5 Pen Argyl Sr.
4 Ray O'Donnell 27-4 Saucon Valley So.
5 Will Van Doren 24-4 Delaware Valley Jr.

Honorable mention: Sr. Zack Bambary (9-9) Easton, So. Evan Bray (17-8) Belvidere, Fr. Jose Ortiz (9-4) Bethlehem Catholic, Jr. Levi Veppert (24-5) Northwestern Lehigh, Jr. Eric Wolak (10-6) Nazareth.

Notes: A confusing weight class. We were perhaps harsh on Horn last week -- he does have two narrow wins over O'Donnell, albeit both in December -- but where does he go with the loss to Veppert? Pennsylvania e-mailers complain about Maffucci but we have liked what we have seen and he went up to beat Voorhees' Zach Bohn this week. Horn's body of work probably deserves a mulligan, so he'll get one and we'll see what happens down the road in individual districts.

Ben BradleyBen Bradley
189 Name Record School Class
1 Ian Gimbar 28-2 Saucon Valley Sr.
2 Dylan Evans 22-6 Pen Argyl Jr.
3
Ben Bradley 15-5 Nazareth Sr.
4 Luke Garner 25-1 Catasauqua Jr.
5 Cory Bruder 18-6 Parkland Sr.

Honorable mention: So. Josh Alpha (15-8) Bethlehem Catholic, Sr. Zach Bohn (24-4) Voorhees, Fr. Fuad Haddad (15-8) Whitehall, Sr. Kyle Kathenes (20-7) Hackettstown, So. Evan Kauffman (11-4) Freedom, Jr. Marcus Newsom (18-6) Northampton, Jr. Anthony Pare (12-8) Phillipsburg, Fr. Jovon Reyes (17-3) Dieruff, Sr. Brandon Steele (17-10) Liberty, Sr. Kyle VanWingerden (13-7) Belvidere.

Notes: Bradley returned from the disabled list and hammered Bruder 8-2 in the D-11 team duals, enough to bounce him up to the Top 5 again. Reyes comes down to honorable mention because of any injury. Evans continues to impress and bumps up to No. 2. Bohn fell to Maffucci of Hunterdon Central, who was bumping up from 171, and loses his spot to Bruder. Alpha drops from 215.

Fred JenningsFred Jennings
215 Name Record School Class
1 Brandon Hull 24-5 Phillipsburg Jr.
2 Tarik Haddad 15-3 Parkland Sr.
3 Tyler Greene 25-6 Easton So.
4 Nick Sharga 27-5 Northampton Jr.
5 Kyle Nerger 21-6 North Hunterdon Sr.

Honorable mention: Jr. Ryan Barry (21-9) Pen Argyl, Sr. Brian Guevara (21-3) Voorhees, Sr. Fred Jennings (24-4) Hackettstown, So. J.B. Lawson (17-8) Belvidere, Sr. Derek Knoop (16-11) Hunterdon Central, Jr. Kane Kralik (18-5) Palmerton, Jr. Dan Smith (23-5) Warren Hills, Jr. David Wilke (17-9) Nazareth.

Notes: Hull's loss came at 285 in a rideout to Watchung Hill's Dominick Urso; he will incur no penalty. Greene's 5-3 win over Sharga in the D-11 team duals reverses their order. Haddad went to 285 to post a solid win over Nazareth's Aaron Bradley (No. 4 at 285). Nerger held off Smith 8-4; had the Blue Streak won he'd likely own the No. 5 spot.

Shaquone WilliamsShaquone Williams
285 Name Record School Class
1 Jack Delia 25-0 North Hunterdon Sr.
2 Jalal Paige 28-4 Easton Sr.
3 Steve Giraldo 24-4 Hackettstown Sr.
4 Aaron Bradley 14-3 Nazareth So.
5 Shaquone Williams 24-5 Pius X Jr.

Honorable mention: Sr. Steven Farr (19-5) Dieruff, Sr. Jordan Gonzalez (10-5) Allen, Sr. Shaun Heist (18-9) Parkland, So. Chris Longyhore (12-10) North Warren, Jr. Kirby Mutton (22-7) Pen Argyl.

Notes: Paige avenged a loss to Bradley at the D-11 team duals and coupled with a 1-2 week for the Blue Eagle, that moves Paige up to No. 2 and lets Giraldo slip in at No. 3. Mutton gets better and better; too bad Pen Argyl and Pius don't wrestle.
