Salisbury Township School Board OKs preliminary budget with 4 percent hike, staff cuts

http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/lehigh-county/index.ssf/2012/05/salisbury_township_school_boar_5.html FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES Salisbury Township school directors Wednesday voted in favor of a preliminary final budget that will raise taxes 4.06 percent and cut three teaching positions in 2012-13. The 6-0 vote came after students, parents and teachers urged the board to reconsider moving forward with the $30,317,450 spending plan. School directors Samuel P. DeFrank, George J. Gatanis and John J. Moyer were absent. District Business Administrator Christine Stafford said the proposed hike means the average township homeowner will pay $135 more in property taxes next year.
