Nazareth police chief wants investigation discussions out of public meetings

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Nazareth’s police chief was critical tonight of a councilman who accused the police department of failing to return a crime victim’s money in a timely manner.

At a council meeting March 5, councilman Larry Stoudt questioned what happened to the $115 allegedly taken from a 90-year-old woman by Caleb Clift, 24, of Nazareth. He allegedly robbed the woman in December in front of the Lafayette Ambassador Bank in the 100 block of South Main Street to get money for drugs.

Police nabbed Clift immediately after the crime, but the money wasn’t returned until March 12.
