Bethlehem woman allegedly conspires to steal money from her father

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

A Bethlehem woman faces conspiracy charges after she helped a friend take more than $3,600 in cash and coins from her father’s safe.

Samantha Lee Allen, 21, of the 900 block of Fourth Street, admitted she was upset with her father, Michael Allen Sr., and conspired with Stephanie Jenkins to commit the burglary, police say.

Jenkins allegedly burglarized Allen Sr.'s home Nov. 11 in the 200 block of Race Street in Bath, court records say.

Allen Sr. alleges $3,600 in cash and collection of old coins was stolen from the safe.

Samantha Allen conspired with Jenkins because Allen is well-known in the area and did not want to be present during the burglary, police say.

Samantha Allen told Jenkins the safe was either in the basement or her father’s bedroom and it was unlocked, police say.

Samantha Allen was working at the time of the burglary, but allegedly told police she spoke to Jenkins later.

Jenkins told Samantha Allen that she stole $1,000 out of the safe and gave $500 to her, police say.

Samantha Allen allegedly used the stolen money to get an apartment. She is out on $7,500 unsecured bail. Her release conditions include pretrial supervision and random drug testing and alcohol screening.

Samantha Allen faces charges of conspiracy of burglary, conspiracy of criminal trespass to break into a structure, conspiracy of theft by unlawful taking of movable property and receiving stolen property.

No charges are listed in an online database for Stephanie Jenkins.
