Three different players scored touchdowns as Easton (11-2) led wire-to-wire in a 24-8 victory in the 105th edition of the annual Thanksgiving Day football rivalry game against Phillipsburg High School at Fisher Stadium.
Kevin Griffin got the Rovers on the board with a 36-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter. Senior quarterback Ian Hayden stretched the lead to 14-0 when he found Matt Mowad for a 9-yard scoring strike just before halftime.
The story of the afternoon was the stout Easton defense, which limited the Liners to only 30 rushing yards. Phillipsburg quarterback Mike Diamond did connect with speedy Alex Martin seven times for 125 yards, but the Liners (7-3) could only find the end zone in the fourth quarter again the Rovers' second-team defense.
Griffin finished with 95 yards on 18 carries. Hayden was 9-for-18 passing for 160 yards -- freshman Shane Simpson hauled in six of the catches for 111 yards for Easton.
