Donors needed to give children chance to 'shop with cops'

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

The Colonial Regional Police Department in conjunction with Wal-Mart will be conducting its sixth annual "Shop with Cops" program in coming months.

In the program, which kicks off Dec. 10, volunteer officers help children purchase Christmas gifts for their families. Several children already have been selected who live in Colonial Regional’s jurisdiction, according to the police department.

The program is funded by donations from private citizens and businesses. The program is designed to give children positive time with a police officer in their community.

“We are asking for donations to help these children in need have a happy holiday season,” Colonial Regional police Chief Roy Seiple stated in an e-mail. “All of the donations collected will be evenly distributed to the children to purchase gifts of their choice for their family. The children will also be permitted to pick a special gift for themselves.”

Those interested in donating to the program are asked to contact Colonial Regional Police Department at 610-837-4557 or visit www.colonialregionalpd.org by Nov. 25.

Colonial Regional provides 24-hour service to Bath, Hanover Township and Lower Nazareth Township. Chapman Borough is contracted with Colonial Regional. It covers a population of 20,000 people.
