Jared Mintz scored 21 points, including the 1,000th of his career, today to lead the Lafayette College men's basketball team to a 75-64 Patriot League victory over Colgate at Kirby Sports Center.
The senior forward from Toronto becomes the 36th player in school history to reach the milestone. Mintz went into the game with 992 points and reached 1,000 on a short turnaround jumper with 11:06 left in the first half.
"It's awesome to have that kind of legacy," Mintz said. "My name will be in the book for someone to look at in a couple years."
Junior guard Jim Mower added 17 points, all in the second half, for Lafayette (6-11 overall, 1-1 league). Senior forward Darion Benbow tied his career high with 15 points and sophomore point guard Tony Johnson added 10.
Junior forward Yaw Gyawu scored 18 points to lead Colgate (1-14, 0-2).
