At least one big one still on in boys basketball tonight

FROM KEITH GROLLER

Yeah, I know.

It stinks.

Another gameday for high school boys basketball and another batch of postponements, thanks to another small storm. Allen AD Scott Cooperman just said via e-mail: "We're running out of dates."

While we have not had that two-footer that paralyzes us for a full week -- knock on wood -- this winter has wreaked havoc on the schedule with nuisance storms here and there. My third-grade daughter may be going to school until the 4th of July with all of the makeup days she's racking up.

And besides the snow and ice, it has been the coldest winter I can remember.

I had breakfast with my former teacher and coach at Dieruff, Tommy Young, this week. He was up for his father's 90th birthday, but he couldn't wait to get back down to Florida where he'll soon be starting another spring training as Fred Wilpon's right-hand man with the New York Mets. Can't blame him.

It was good to see TY, and not just because he bought breakfast.

Here are the rescheduled dates we have on tonight's boys game -- you may want to print and save -- and remember, the LVC and MVC games generally start at 7 p.m. and the Colonial League starts at 7:15.

LVC: Emmaus at Easton (moved to Monday, Jan. 31); Freedom at Parkland (moved to Monday, Feb. 7); Northampton at CCHS (moved to Monday, Jan. 24), Dieruff at Liberty (Weds., Feb. 9); Nazareth at Allen (TBA).

Colonial: Southern Lehigh at No. Lehigh (moved to Monday, Jan. 24); Palisades at Catasauqua (moved to Monday, Feb. 7); Salisbury at Palmerton (moved to Sat. Jan. 29); Notre Dame at Pen Argyl (moved to Thurs., Feb. 3).

MVC: Pocono Mt. West at Stroudsburg (moved to Weds. Feb. 2), Honesdale at ES South (Sat. Feb. 5), Lehighton at PM East (TBA).

As far we know, at least two games are still on tonight.

The big one in the Colonial League -- Wilson at Bangor -- is still on. So is Becahi at Whitehall.

Predictions?

Bangor 52, Wilson 44 -- The Warriors will try to slow the Slaters down, but you can't slow them down for 32 minutes.

Whitehall 58, Becahi 52 -- Hope a good crowd shows up to salute all of the Hall of Fame inductees, especially Tony Cocca.

Saturday

Bangor 66, Notre Dame 48 -- Slaters offer further proof that this is their year.

Allen 79, Dieruff 52 -- Canaries still trying to get bitter loss to Liberty out of their mouths and have had a whole week to think about it before returning to LVC games.
