Meredith Marakovits will be new Sixers sideline reporter for Comcast SportsNet

Northampton native and Central Catholic graduate Meredith Marakovits will be the new sideline reporter for all 76er home games.

Marakovits had done extensive work for Service Electric TV2 and then for ESPN radio in Philadelphia and New York and now comes back "home" to Philly to work for Comcast.

Marakovits, who played basketball at CCHS, is a La Salle graduate. She played Division I volleyball for the Explorers.

Marakovits will make her debut Wednesday night when the 76ers host Miami in their season opener from the Wells Fargo Center.

PHILADELPHIA- (October 26, 2010) – Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, the leader in local sports coverage, today announced that Meredith Marakovits has joined the network as a sideline reporter for all home Sixers broadcasts. She joins longtime Sixers broadcaster Marc Zumoff and former Sixer and new color analyst Eric Snow on the Emmy-Award winning broadcast. The Sixers open their 2010-11 season on Wednesday, October 27 against the Miami Heat.



Marakovits most recent work includes covering the New York Mets and New York Yankees for ESPN 1050, and reporting for SportsNet New York. She previously covered the 76ers while working for ESPN 950 in Philadelphia. Marakovits is a graduate of La Salle University where she played Division I volleyball.



Season Opener

On Wednesday, October 27 Comcast SportsNet airs “Sixers Pregame Live” at 6:30 p.m. from the AT&T Pavilion in the Wells Fargo Center. The live game broadcast tips off at 7 p.m. with the new broadcast team of Zumoff, Snow and Marakovits. “Sixers Postgame Live” will immediately follow the game on Comcast SportsNet.
