Easton field hockey team loses 3-1 to Allen in first round of district playoffs

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Bethany Mink recorded a hat trick today to lead Allen High School's field hockey team to a 3-1 victory over Easton in a District 11 Class AAA pigtail round game at J. Birney Crum Stadium.

Ninth-seeded Easton, which finishes its season 10-8-1, took a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the game on a goal by Brooke Sales.

Mink, who has 32 goals this season, scored all three of her goals off corners. Goalkeeper Brandon Karess, a member of the Men's Junior National Field Hockey team last summer, made eight saves for the Canaries (13-6).

Allen, the eighth seed, advances to the quarterfinals against unbeaten and top-seed Emmaus (20-0) on Thursday.
