Bethlehem Catholic graduate Adam Bednarik picked up right where he left off on Sunday with a solid performance in the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks' 48-47 come-from-behind Professional Indoor Football League win over the Trenton Freedom at Stabler Arena. It was the team's season opener.
Bednarik, the former West Virginia standout playing for the second consecutive year for the local team, completed 16 of 27 passes for 182 yards and six touchdowns, including the game-winner to Brandon Renford with 33 seconds left.
For that performance, Bednarik has been named the PIFL's Offensive Player of the Week.
The Steelhawks play the Harrisburg Stampede at Hershey's Giant Center on Friday night and then return home on April 26 against Trenton. They also have home games on May 3, May 11 and May 17 and close out the 12-game regular season on June 28.
