Softball update: A look back at Thursday when Groller Curse was evidently in effect

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/

FROM KEITH GROLLER

Pretty soon, no one will pick up the phone when I call.
Needing material for my weekly softball column on Thursday, I got ahold of both Bangor and Northern Lehigh coaches, Rich Kessler and Bob Hicks, Jr., respectively.
Both were off to 3-1 starts and seemingly doing a nice job getting once-proud programs back on track.
Well, you know what happened.
After I talked to them about how much progress they're making and began writing the column, both went out and lost their games. Bangor lost a heartbreaker to Salisbury and Northern Lehigh got crushed by Pen Argyl.
So, by the time the column hit print, both teams were 3-2 and not feeling nearly as good about themselves as they did earlier in the day.
So it goes.
In this crazy softball season, everything seems to change as fast as Florida weather. Misery can turn into delight and vice versa in a matter of hours.
There were other surprises on Thursday like Whitehall beating Emmaus and Northampton beating Becahi.
Here's a recap:
