Nazareth mayor has plans to beef up police force

Following several years with only a skeleton crew in the Nazareth Police Department, Mayor Carl Strye Jr. is beefing up the force.

The department hired two part-time officers March 3 and more full-time officers are expected to come aboard this year. The force has been without a detective since Fred Lahovski was demoted to patrolman in March 2012 and later fired in September 2012.
