Monday's softball roundup and updated standings while we wait for rain to go away

For a couple of hours there on Monday, we got a little hint of summer and I didn't need a jacket as I covered Catasauqua's blowout of Salisbury.

Today, it's back to the rain and by the tonight it may feel like winter again.

That's the way it goes around here.

With virtually everyone getting backed up on their games, the teams that are going to shine this spring are the ones that offer the most depth because these teams are going to be playing MLB-like schedules through the remainder of this month and the first 10 days of May.

Here's a look back on Monday's games:

LEHIGH VALLEY CONFERENCE

Liberty 2, Freedom 1 -- Hurricanes clearly establish themselves as the team to beat in the LVC East. Both teams had four hits. Alyshia Dellatore scored game-winning run.

Parkland 5, Easton 0 -- Morgan Rentzheimer 3-hitter, 11 Ks. Lexi Oakley 2-3, RBI; Abby Fritzinger 3-4, 2B, RBI.

COLONIAL LEAGUE

Southern Lehigh 10, Palmerton 6 -- Courtney Herr 3-5, 2B, 2 runs scored, 5 RBIs.

Pen Argyl 7, Saucon Valley 5 -- The Green Knights rallied back from a 4-1 deficit with six runs in the bottom of the sixth. Laura Zanette 2-4, 2B, 2 RBIs; Corinne Ashmore 11 Ks.

Bangor 5, Notre Dame 4 -- Lexi Kessler 2-3, 2B, R; Kaitlyn Caleen 3-4 2B, 3 RBIs. Slaters scored game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh while Caleen getting the GW-RBI.

Palisades 10, Northwestern 9 -- The Pirates got a big day from Melissa Albe 3-4, 2 HRs, 3B, 4 RBIs. For Northwestern, Kaitlyn Bowers 3-5, 3 RBIs; Sunny Greenberg 3-6, 2 RBIs.

Northern Lehigh 7, Wilson 1 -- Amber Thomas tossed a 1-hitter for the Bulldogs. Taylor Herman 1-2, HR, 3 Rs, RBI; Cassie Toth 1-2, 2 Rs, RBI.
