The District 11 boys tennis championships will have a new home this year, following the sudden closing of the Westend Racquet and Fitness Club on Tuesday, although the venue change had been in the works for a while.
"We were aware of some issues at Westend," District 11 Tennis Chairman Tom Moll said. "Some of the courts were unplayable due to the rough winter, and a partial roof collapse there left some of the courts unplayable, too.
"Members of the committee met with a group of coaches earlier in the spring to come up with an alternative plan. So the closing of the facility really didn't impact us that significantly."
This spring, all rounds leading up to the finals will be played outdoors, with the finals set to be played indoors, Moll said. The first two rounds will be played at two locations: Class AAA will be played at Parkland High School, and Class AA will be played at Saucon Valley High School.
