Big loss in the Whitehall, Catasauqua and Freedom communities

FROM KEITH GROLLER

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Ron Madouse, who was a member of the Whitehall High basketball coaching staff. He died on Tuesday.
Ron, a member of Whitehall's Class of 1980, was ingrained in the Zephyrs community and a friendly face to see whether it was in the football pressbox or on the coaching sideline. I know he was very close to head coach Jeff Jones and John "Beet" Bowman, the Zephyrs' scorekeeper and a stat man for RCN4.
I've also learned he was a roommate of well-known local basketball, football and baseball official Frank D'Angelo during their Bloomsburg days.
Madouse was also an assistant coach at Catasauqua during the first 10 years of Eric Snyder's tenure.
Ron's sons played sports at Whitehall and he was a teacher at Freedom High School.
I don't know the particulars of the funeral arrangements, but I know there are a lot of heavy hearts after the loss of such a good guy at such a young age, especially one who was so well-known in local sports circles.
Our hearts and sincerest condolences go out to Ron's family and friends in this most difficult time.
