Tri-Valley beat Pine Grove 3-2 in the Schuylkill League championship game on Friday night, a mild upset considering PGA had just one loss and Tri-Valley had five.
What that means is that Catasauqua becomes the top seed in District 11 2A and will not see Pen Argyl again in the semifinals after.
Instead, the Roughies will await the one quarterfinal game in this bracket between No. 5 North Schuylkill and No. 4 Notre Dame. Catty will play the winner in the semis, probably on Tuesday, May 28.
Pine Grove, meanwhile drops to No. 2 and will face No. 3 Pen Argyl in the other semi.
Dates, times and locations will be released on Sunday.
Also, Pleasant Valley's win over Stroudsburg in the Mountain Valley Conference championship game gives the Bears the top seed in District 11 4A.
The 4A tournament will have 13 teams with three teams (PV, Northampton and Parkland) getting first-round byes, while the other 10 will play first-round games on Tuesday.
Those matchups, which feature teams from different leagues battling, look like this:
No. 13 ES South at No. 4 Freedom
No. 12 Bangor at No. 5 Liberty
No. 11 Pocono Mt. East at No. 6 Emmaus
No. 10 Pottsville at No. 7 Nazareth
No. 9 Stroudsburg at No. 8 Whitehall.
And then in Thursday's quarters, here's what it looks like:
Stroudsburg/Whitehall winner at  No. 1 Pleasant Valley.
Nazareth/Pottsville winner at No. 2 Northampton
PM East/Emmaus winner at No. 3 Parkland.
And the other matchup will feature the ES South/Freedom winner meeting the Bangor/Liberty winner.
If the seeds hold your semifinals on May 28 would feature No. 1 Pleasant Valley vs. No. 4 Freedom, and No. 2 Northampton vs. No. 3 Parkland. But rarely do the top four seeds go unblemished into the semis.
