Thursday softball scoreboard: Bangor stuns Pen Argyl to clinch D11 berth

Interesting stuff on the last full day of the regular season. There are a few games left on Friday, including one very important one at Pen Argyl. But Thursday was a big day, especially for Bangor. Here are the scores:

COLONIAL

Bangor 2, Pen Argyl 1 -- Slaters clinch first district berth since 2008 behind an Erin Happel 4-hitter. Green Knights are in free-fall mode. Must snap out of it against Southern Lehigh or they will be out of Colonial League tournament after having league's best record most of the season.

Catasauqua 8, Northwestern 1 -- Rough Riders roll into the league tournament.

Saucon Valley 6, Lehighton 3 -- Panthers still play Notre Dame on Friday, and then must wait for districts.

LEHIGH VALLEY CONFERENCE

Bethlehem Catholic 10, Easton 0 -- Golden Hawks clinch East Division title and No. 2 seed for league tournament.

Emmaus 9, Central Catholic 1 -- Green Hornets went 6-0 against fellow West Division foes, 3-5 against the rest of the league.

Parkland 5, Whitehall 0 -- Trojans snap Zephs win streak behind Morgan Rentzheimer 4-hitter.

Liberty 11, Freedom 4 -- Gundrum didn't pitch this one for the Pates, who are still in the LVC tourney and take on Becahi at 5 on Monday night.

Northampton 2, Nazareth 0 -- The 12th shutout of an amazing season for Marly Laubach.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY CONFERENCE

ES South 9, ES North 0 -- This one puts the Cavs in both the league and district tournament.
