In case you missed it in print, here are the two softball players of the week:
HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER OF WEEK
Kendra Pekurny, Palmerton
Having graduated five key players from a team that posted a school-record 17 wins in 2012, Palmerton was thought to be in rebuilding mode this season.
But they probably didn’t know Kendra Pekurny was coming.
The freshman pitcher, with help from a potent offense, has turned a rebuilding season into a potential championship season. Entering play on Thursday, the Bombers were on a five-game winning streak and were 11-4 overall, 9-4 in the league and positioned to be in the league tournament on May 14-16.
Perkurny is a big reason, tossing four 1-hitters this season, including one on Wednesday against Northwestern.
