REVISED Colonial League softball tournament pairings

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/

FROM KEITH GROLLER

This is revised from earlier.
For the first time ever, Palmerton is the No. 1 seed for the Colonial League softball tournament which is set to begin on Tuesday night at Pates Park.
The Blue Bombers will play No. 4 seed Catasauqua in the second game of the semifinal doubleheader at 7 p.m. after defending league champ Pen Argyl meets Notre Dame in the 5 p.m. opener.
Technically, Pen Argyl is the No. 2 seed and Notre Dame No. 3.
All four teams finished the Colonial League regular season with league marks of 12-4.
The league title game is set for 7 p.m. Thursday night at Pates, right after the LVC championship game.
Pen Argyl defeated Southern Lehigh 4-1 and Notre Dame routed Saucon Valley 18-5 on Friday to secure the final two playoff spots.
Here is the explanation of how the seeds were determined courtesy of NL athletic director Bryan Geist and sent to me by Catty AD Tom Moll at 12:18 a.m.
Here is how the breakdown occurred.

All 4 tied teams at 12-4.

1st Determine Divisional Champion
South - NDGP
North - Palmerton (3-1 vs. Catty and Pen Argyl)

Tournament Seeding 3+ teams
#1 tied
#2 Palmerton 4-1, Pen Argyl 2-3, Catty 2-3, NDGP 1-2
Therefore, Palmerton is the #1 seed and start tiebreaker over at 3 teams

Tournament Seeding 3 teams
#1 tied
#2 Pen Argyl 2-1, NDGP 1-1, Catty 1-2
Therefore, Pen Argyl is the #2 seed and start tiebreaker over at 2 teams

Tournament Seeding 2 teams
#1 tied
#2 Head to Head NDGP beat Catty
Therefore, NDGP is #3 and Catty is #4

This should clear it up for everyone.

thanks,
