Predictions: Expect a LVC sweep today in District 11 4A softball

FROM KEITH GROLLER

The District 11 softball tournament begins with five games in the 4A classification,  and, interestingly, all five feature games matching Lehigh Valley Conference teams against teams from other leagues.
I see LVC members winning all five games and only two of them will be close:
No, 4 Freedom over No, 13 East Stroudsburg South, 11-1.. I don't know if Patriots standout pitcher Emily Gundrum will be back for the district tournament, but it's not going to matter today.
No. 5 Liberty over No. 12 Bangor 8-2 ... The defending district champion Hurricanes have been off the radar most of the season, but are still dangerous. This is Bangor's first district appearance since 2008.
No. 6 Emmaus over No. 11 Pocono Mountain East. 10-0 ... Green Hornets set up a meeting with Parkland on Thursday in the district quarters.
No. 7 Nazareth over No. 10 Pottsville 7-4 ... Blue Eagles offense will have to carry the team in the postseason. Crimson Tide is defending 3A champ making a move up in class.
No. 8 Whitehall over No. 9 Stroudsburg 4-3... This is where I am headed and this should be the closest game of the day. The Zephyrs came on strong in the second half of the season, but will get a challenge from the Mounties who are one of the few MVC schools having a decent season. The Zephs are 3-0 against the MVC this season, and if they win this one, they'll get No. 1 seed Pleasant Valley, a team they just defeated 8-6. The door seems to be open to the semis for Whitehall, but nothing the inconsistent Zephs do would be a surprise.
