Johnny Bench coming to Valley the day before Thanksgiving

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER We've had this here on Groller's Corner earlier this year, but with it now being October and the Reds in the Major League Baseball playoffs, it's a good time to remind area sports fans that Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench will be the keynote speaker at the 15th annual LifePath and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Thanksgiving benefit and awards luncheon on Weds., Nov. 21 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Fogelsville. Festivities begin that day at 11 a.m. Bench follows in a long line of outstanding sports speakers that include Jim Kelly, Mike Schmidt, Dick Vermeil, Mike Ditka and Bill Walton. The annual event assists LifePath in raising awareness of the needs of individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. Last year's luncheon -- Walton was the main speaker -- attracted 630 guests and grossed more than $136,000 to support LifePath's programs and services. Tickets, which cost $90 person, and sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more info, contact LifePath Director of Development Ann Marie Surovy at 484-893-5539 or e-mail her at amsurovy@lifepath.org.
