Dieruff grad named MVP in all-star football game

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Rodney Gilmore, a Dieruff High graduate and quarterback of the Lehigh Valley Storm semi-pro team, was named the MVP in the Gridiron Delvelopmental Football League (GDFL) all-star game over the weekend. Gilmore led his Xtreme Conference team to a 7-6 win over the Impact Conference in the game played in Chambersburg.Rodney Gilmore Gilmore (pictured on the left with league president Charles Thompson) finished the game with 120 yards passing and 36 rushing and led the team on the game-winning drive that resulted in a touchdown with 10 seconds left. The Storm, which plays its home games at J. Birney Crum Stadium, also had defensive coordinator Eric Landis involved in the game. The Storm is in the same conference and division as the Central Penn Piranha, who featured Eddie Scipio (Becahi), Eddie Favors (Allen) and assistant coach Fred Rice (Bethlehem Catholic). The Piranha, as we wrote about last week, won the GDFL championship with a 16-0 record. They are the No. 1 ranked minor league football team in the country and have three national titles and seven league crowns.
