http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER One of the legendary high school coaches in Pennsylvania high school football history is back at the place that he made famous. Various media outlets are reporting tonight that George Curry is back as the one-year interim football coach at Berwick High School. Curry was named the Bulldogs coach at a special meeting of the Berwick School Board on Monday night, approved by an 8-1 vote. The Berwick post was vacated when Gary Campbell Jr. resigned to accept his old job at Wahconah Regional High School in Massachusetts. Curry guided the Dawgs to six PIAA Class 3A championships and three mythical national titles, leaving the program with a 387-83-5 record. He had many memorable battles with Central Catholic and Bethlehem Catholic in the state playoffs. He has great respect for local coaches Jim Morgans and Bob Stem and his son-in-law, Craig Waters, is a teacher and coach at Parkland. Curry left Berwick in 2005 and went to Wyoming Valley West where he went 26-8 in three seasons before retirng. He returns to the sidelines as Pennsylvania's all-time leader in wins with 413.
