Seven area kids, two local coaches to participate in PSFCA All-Star Football Game

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER After a one-year absence due to lack of sponsors, the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game is back and it's coming up very soon. The game is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6 at Gateway High School in Monroeville and seven Morning Call-area kids have been selected to participate in the game and two area coaches are on the East team staff. The East roster will feature Central Catholic offensive lineman Tad McNeely, CCHS wide receiver Jalen Snyder-Scipio, Nazareth quarterback Dan Harding and Blue Eagles wide receiver Adam Bridgeforth, Parkland linebacker Rob Dvoracek, Emmaus defensive lineman Cody Laubach and Liberty defensive back Anthony Orlando. Two other District 11 kids are also on the East squad: Marian Catholic offensive lineman Brandon McGowan and Blue Mountain punter/kicker Brad Lukasak. Also, two prominent area coaches, former CCHS head coach and current Whitehall assistant Harold Fairclough and Northern Lehigh coach Joe Tout will be working with the East kids. This game began in 2001 and had been played in Altoona from 2001-2010. It was started as a way to give more kids a chance to play in an all-star game since the Big 33 Classic only has 34 Pennsylvania kids involved on a roster that competes against Ohio. The East-West game averaged about 5,000 fans per year in Altoona. It will now be shifted back and forth between Gateway and Downingtown West with the games at Gatway in even-numbered years and at Downingtown in odd-number years. The East has won seven of the 10 previous games. The East team will have practices on April 22 and 29 at Downingtown West High School and then report to Gateway on May 5.
