Thomas K. Maher, Jr., 61, of Nazareth, PA, died suddenly Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at his home. Born: in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a son of the late Thomas Maher, Sr. and Elizabeth Hart Maher. Personal: He was the husband of Debra K. LaCoursiere, together they celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary this past August 25, 2011. Thomas was a controller for Sensient Cosmetic Technologies, in S. Plainfield, NJ, for the past 17 years. Prior to that he worked for Bucyrus-Erie Mfg., S. Milwaukee and ALCAN Aluminum, Kentucky, both in Accounting and Financials. In 2003 he was an Adjunct professor teaching Accounting at DeSales University. He received his Bachelor Degree in accounting from Marquette University, Wis., in 1971. He then achieved his C.P.A. certification in 1976, and earned his M.B.A. from the University of Evansville, Evansville, Ind., In 1964. He enjoyed reading, history, travel and family life, and was fortunate enough to accomplish a longtime wish to travel with his wife to Paris in 2010. Thomas served his country as a P.F.C. in the Army stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Memberships: He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Nazareth, PA. He served on the N.A.S.D. Board of Directors as a member and Treasurer for the last 12 years and was just elected to his fourth term. He was a member of the Nazareth Community Diversity Council, and was a former Republican Committeeman. Survivors: Surviving along with his wife Debra, are three sons, Thomas K. Maher, III and spouse Urso S.A. Chappell of San Francisco, CA, James P. Maher of Nazareth, PA, Daniel V. Maher of Bethlehem, PA; three sisters, Elizabeth R. Becky wife of Joseph Welter of Oakhurst, NJ, Mary wife of Timothy Murphy of Tucson, AR., Margaret Peggy wife of Richard Rasch of La Grange IL; a brother, Patrick T. Maher of Hanover Park, IL. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church, W. Center St. and Forest Dr., Nazareth, PA 18064. Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 East Center Street, Nazareth, PA 18064. Fr. Joseph Tobias will officiate the mass. Interment will take place at Ft. Indiantown Gap Cemetery in Annville, PA and will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorials: May be made to the Thomas K.
