Easton Area High School senior quarterback/defensive back Ian Hayden, Nazareth Area High School senior quarterback Dan Harding and Pen Argyl Area High School senior running back/defensive back Dylan Evans are winners of the 2011 Pennsylvania Mini Max High School Award.
The award is given to 60 players from schools located in Districts 1, 3, 11 and 12 in the eastern half of the state.
Players were nominated by their coaches throughout the season and were evaluated based on a criteria that includes academics, football performance and community service.
Hayden led the Red Rovers (11-3) to their third-consecutive appearance in the District 11 Class AAAA championship game. The senior set a school record with 1,868 passing yards, to go along with 17 TDs and nine interceptions.
Harding propelled the Blue Eagles (12-2) to their first-ever Lehigh Valley Conference title and first District 11 Class AAAA district title. The senior threw for an area-high 3,774 yards with 31 touchdowns and just nine INTs.
Evans rushed for 2,064 yards and 29 touchdowns -- with 31 total -- as the Green Knights (13-1) clinched the Colonial League and District 11 Class AA titles.
Other regional players to earn the award are Central Catholic's Brendan Nosovitch, Palmerton's Aaron Cook and Andrew Harris of Whitehall.
The Maxwell Football Club will select one player from the group of Mini Max winners as the winner of the 2011 Pennsylvania High School Player of the Year at the awards dinner on Jan. 19, 2012.
