Allentown Central Catholic football team advances in PIAA playoffs; Pius X falls to Southern Columbia

Allentown Central Catholic 56, Shamokin 14 -- Brendan Nosovitch threw four touchdown passes as the Vikings continued the march through the PIAA playoffs in defense of their Class AAA title.

Nosovitch, the South Carolina-bound senior, threw two touchdowns each to Kevin Gulyas and Jalen Snyder-Scipio as Central Catholic put this game out of reach by halftime.

Coach Harold Fairclough's squad will advance to play Archbishop Wood -- a 41-22 winner over Pottsgrove -- in a semifinal round contest.

So. Columbia 55, Pius X 25 -- Brad Fegley rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another as the Tigers pulled away for an easy win in the PIAA Class A playoffs.

The Royals built an early 19-7 lead behind a pair of AJ Long touchdown passes, but Southern Columbia scored seven of the last eight touchdowns as Andrew Leh Stadium.

The Tigers will face the winner of Saturday's Columbia-Penn Manor game in the semifinals.
