Oklahoma State's Jordan Oliver won a Big 12 individual wrestling title Saturday, helping the Cowboys to their ninth conference championship.
Oliver, a redshirt freshman and three-time state champ at Easton High, was named the tournament's co-outstanding wrestler after winning the 133-pound weight class.
"I had no clue I was going to get that," Oliver said of the award. "I was sure that was going to be either (teammate) Clayton (Foster) or (Jarrod) Patterson [of Oklahoma]. It was awesome. It's an exciting ... to get voted outstanding wrestler in the Big 12 Conference with all these outstanding wrestlers. I guess it's something I'm going to have to keep pushing for these next three years."
Oliver advanced to the NCAA championships March 18-20 in Omaha, Neb.
