IUP falls in NCAA D-II men's basketball final

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Donnelle Booker scored 13 points, Austin Swift added 12 points and six rebounds, and Cal Poly Pomona won its first NCAA Division II championship with a 65-53 victory over Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday.

The Broncos led by double digits for most of the second half at the MassMutual Center, rebounding from a loss in last year's final to Findlay on a last second 3-pointer.

Cal Poly (28-6) won 21 of its final 22 games after starting the season 7-5. The loss snapped a 15-game winning streak for the Crimson Hawks (33-3) from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

Swift was named the Elite Eight's Most Outstanding Player.

Darryl Webb had 12 points and 13 rebounds for IUP, while Akida McLain added 10 points, all in the second half, and seven rebounds.

Dahir Nasser had 12 points for the Broncos and joined Swift and Webb on the All-Tournament team. Taylor Witt and Matt Schneck of St. Cloud State also were honored.
