ALS EVENT SUNDAY

As many of you know, Larry O'Rourke of The Morning Call is afflicted with ALS. He and his associates have organized a fundraiser to benefit various ALS organizations. Please stop by if you can. Details follow:

What: Drive Against ALS Sunday Sports Spectacular
To benefit: Organizations that support ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease care, research, etc.
When: Sunday, Dec. 6, noon until we run out of football on the TVs.
The Dec. 6 games include:
Eagles at Atlanta at 1
Indy vs. Tenn. at 1
Cowboys at Giants at 4:15
Patriots at Miami at 8:15
Stay 45 minutes, four quarters, or all day.
Where: Starter's Riverfront, downtown Bethlehem, Pa. http://www.startersriverport.com/ has directions. Starter's has more than 70 TVs.
Admission: Free
Goal: Raise $2,000 with raffles and auctions.
Items: The list is a work-in-progress, but already includes two items autographed by Donovan McNabb, one by legendary racer Mario Andretti, and many Philadelphia Eagles items. The Lehigh Valley's Yankees fan club also has donated items. The final list of items likely will include items autographed by several big-league athletes that have roots in the Lehigh Valley.

Greg Gross of the 1980 World Series-winning Phillies will stop by to chat and sign autographs.

** Two 1980 World Series Philadelphia Bulletin newspapers,one from the day after the Phillies won the Series and one from the following day, when the city held the parade (that's the paper with the poster-like cover). Both are complete papers, which are almost impossible to find today because most people just kept the front page and sports sections, and ditched the rest of the paper.
** Brian Schneider autographed items
** Baseball bat autographed by Ken Griffey Jr., Albert Belle and Frank Thomas. The bat is in protective, see-through display case.

** 2006 Patriots media guide
