As will be the case all week -- the final week of the high school softball regular season -- some big games were played on Monday.
But over in the Colonial League, Salisbury and Bangor -- both featuring first-year coaches -- kept their surprising seasons going strong with key wins and Pen Argyl became the first team to clinch a Colonial League tournament berth.
In the LVC, Parkland remained the area's only unbeaten and sealed a LVC tournament berth.
By the way, the LVC goes first next week at Pates Park with its semifinal doubleheader on Monday night at 5 and 7. The Colonial League semis are Tuesday at 5 and 7 and then there will be a championship doubleheader on Thursday at Pates. The LVC will go first.

LEHIGH VALLEY CONFERENCE
Parkland 9, CCHS 1 -- Trojans make it a sweet 16 as in 16 straight wins. Rachel Smerdon and Morgan Rentzheimer combined on a 4-hitter. Courtney Miller 2-4, 2 Rs, 2 RBIs; Madi Marshall 2-4, 2B, 3B, 2 RBIs.

COLONIAL LEAGUE
Pen Argyl 2, Palmerton 0 -- Green Knights clinch CL spot. Emily Smull pitched a 2-hitter, Laura Zanette 2-4, 3B.
Salisbury 9, Wilson 6 -- The Falcons rallied from a 6-0 deficit. Thayla Creswell 3-4, 3B, HR, 4 RBIs; Meghan Williams 2-3, 2 RBIs, 100th career hit.
Catasauqua 3, Northern Lehigh 1 -- Rough Riders have all but clinched a CL spot. Avenged previous loss to Bulldogs by rallying for three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Shea O'Brien GW-RBI.
Bangor 12, Northwestern 9 -- Slaters win a slugfest. Kiley Kuchar 3-4, 3-run HR; Lexi Kessler 2-3, 3 RBIs; Kaitlyn Caleen 2-3, RBI; Courtney Constable 2-3, 2 RBIs; Mikayla Mulea 2-3, 2 2Bs, RBI.
