BETHLEHEM | Bethlehem is holding at Memorial Day celebration that starts at 9 a.m. Monday at Liberty High School at 1115 Linden St. with a parade marching to Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery at 1851 Linden St. Bethlehem Mayor Bob Donchez and others will present remarks at the cemetery around 9:45 a.m.
BLAIRSTOWN TWP. | Givens-Belet American Legion Post 258 will hold its 69th annual Memorial Day parade 1 p.m. Sunday. The memorial will take place at Ceder Ridge Cemetery off Route 94 across from Tractor Supply. The parade ends at Footbridge Park with food, beverages and festivities.
EAST BANGOR | A Memorial Day service will he held beginning 1 p.m. Monday at the East Bangor Cemetery on Park Road. The speaker will be the Rev. David Felker, a Vietnam War veteran who is part-time pastor at Danielsville United Methodist Church.
There will be a roll call of those veterans who have died in the past year and are now buried in the East Bangor Cemetery. Musical selections will be offered by The Ellis Williams Trio. A gun salute will be fired by Martocci-Capobianco Post 750 American Legion, Roseto.
In case of rain, the service will be held at East Bangor United Methodist Community Church, 136 W. Central Ave. (Route 512). The church is sponsoring the service. For more information call 610-588-4453.
EASTON | The Easton Memorial Day Parade and events are scheduled for Monday.
At 9:15 a.m., the Brown & Lynch American Legion Post No. 9 honor guard & bugler will render honors at the GAR plot in Easton Cemetery.
At 10:30 a.m., the parade will step off at Sixth and Northampton streets, arriving at the free bridge at 11:15 a.m., where joint ceremonies will be conducted with the Phillipsburg group. At 11:30 a.m., the parade will meet at Easton's Scott Park. Jack Panella, Pennsylvania Superior Court judge, will read a memorial address. Other activities also will be conducted, concluding at noon.
Boy and Girl Scout groups are welcome to march. Plan to assemble at Sixth and Northampton streets.
EASTON | The Rice-Ebner American Legion Auxiliary Unit 588 and the South Side Civic Association are co-sponsoring the annual South Side Memorial Day Service 1 p.m. Sunday in McKeen Park, adjacent to the fire station at West Berwick and Reynolds streets. The address will be given by Timothy Reilly, a U.S. Army veteran who served two tours in Iraq. Musical selections will be offered by St. Joseph's Men's Choir.
GREENWICH TWP. | The Stewartsville American Legion Post 456 will line up at 10 a.m. Monday for it annual Memorial Day parade will be lining up at Willever Way in the Stewarts Hunt Development.
PALMER TWP. | American Legion Brown & Lynch Post No. 9 hosts a Memorial Day tribute service 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the post at 2260 Corriere Drive. The guest speaker will be U.S. District Court Judge Edward G. Smith.
PHILLIPSBURG | The annual Memorial Day ceremony will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Shappell Park. This event is conducted by Bernadine-May American Legion Post No. 457. Judy Garrison is the parade marshal. Lt. Sandra Dean, USN, will be the keynote speaker. Instrumental music will be performed by the Phillipsburg High School band, conducted by Kyle Fleming.
All personnel and vehicles participating in the parade will report to Garrison at 8 a.m. near Abbot and Sitgreaves streets.
PLAINFIELD TWP. | The Pen Argyl American Legion and Grace United Methodist Church will hold a service 9 a.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery. The Hope Gospel Quartet will perform and Jim Love will be guest speaker. Refreshments courtesy of American Legion Post 502 will be served afterward. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held at the church at 404 E. Mountain Ave. in Pen Argyl.
PLAINFIELD TWP. | The West Bangor Memorial Association will hold its annual Memorial Day program 11 a.m. Monday at the memorial site on Second Street.
The principal speaker will be Maj. Mary Francis, commanding officer of The Salvation Army of Pen Argyl. The Hope Gospel Quartet will render musical selections. Domenico Palma, a student at Pius X High School, and Mikaela Roper, a student at Pen Argyl Area High School, will give recitations of the Gettysburg Address and "In Flanders Fields."
In case of inclement weather, services will be held at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church Social Hall, Verona Avenue, West Bangor.
ROSETO | Legionnaires from Martocci-Capobianco American Legion Post No. 750 will depart from the post home at 141-143 Garibaldi Ave. at 8:30 a.m. Monday and proceed to the New Catholic Cemetery where services will be held at 9 a.m. The contingent will then move to the Roseto Presbyterian Cemetery on Liberty Street for services at 9:30 a.m. The final graveside services will be held at the Catholic cemetery adjacent to Our Lady of Mount Carmel church at 10 a.m.
From the cemetery the Legionnaires will proceed to the municipal plaza on Garibaldi Avenue for the community services at the war monuments at 10:45 a.m. Students from Our Lady of Mount Carmel, DeFranco Elementary and Faith Christian schools will read their winning essays on the topic "What Memorial Day Means to Me."
Wreaths will be placed on the war monuments by the post. In the event of inclement weather, the community services will be held indoors at the post home at 143 Garibaldi Ave.
TATAMY | A Memorial Day ceremony is set for 1 p.m. Monday at the municipal building, 423 Broad St.
U. MT. BETHEL TWP. | Upper Mount Bethel American Legion Post 216 is hosting a Memorial Day parade and service 11 a.m. Monday at the Slate Belt Museum on Route 611.
The featured speaker will be Ellis Williams. In case of rain it will be held in the Upper Mount Bethel Fire Co.'s social hall. All are invited.
WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. | Richmond United Methodist Church invites active members of the armed forces as well as veterans to attend worship at a Memorial Day Service 10:30 a.m. Sunday. After the service, food and other refreshments will be provided. For reservations and more information, call 610-588-9044.
WILLIAMS TWP. | Residents will hold a Memorial Day ceremony 6 p.m. Sunday at the municipal building, 655 Cider Press Road, to honor fallen heroes, living veterans and service persons on active duty.
Lou DiLullo, a retired captain, U.S. Navy, and township resident, will deliver the address.
Three brothers of a fallen hero, Jess, John and Dale Murray, will lay a wreath at the base of the memorial to the township's fallen heroes. Memorial committee member Richard Seifert will serve as master of ceremonies.
A Community Service Recognition Award will be presented to Blair and Valerie Ferguson, founders of Support the Troops Inc., an organization that sends care packages of personal items, books, and letters and drawings from children to troops.
The community at large is invited to join this program of recognition. Parking is available at the Williams Township Municipal Building. Attendees are urged to bring their own chairs.
The Diocese of Metuchen, which serves Warren and Hunterdon counties, will join thousands of Catholics across the United States on Monday in a national commemoration, "Serving God and Country: A Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes."
All active military men and women and veterans are invited to participate in and attend either of the two Memorial Day Masses. Both will be held 10 a.m. Monday at two diocesan cemeteries in Middlesex County, N.J. They are Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway and Holy Cross Cemetery in Jamesburg.
