High school boys basketball player of the week: Jimmy Hahn, Parkland

Parkland’s Jimmy Hahn may not have joined senior teammates Justin Zajko and Nick Rindock as members of the Lehigh Valley Conference all-star team, but perhaps no Trojan offers the value of the savvy point guard.
Hahn’s contributions are often overlooked, but they were quite noticeable in Tuesday’s LVC semifinal win over Emmaus when he delivered 16 points and 10 assists in the 72-56 victory.
Hahn had five assists alone in the third quarter, several of them to set up 3-pointers by freshman Sam Iorio when Parkland opened up a 52-40 lead. He then made 7-of-8 at the foul line in the fourth period to close out the victory.Mc-central-catholic-parkland-lvc-boys-basketball
“What a leader,” Trojans coach Andy Stephens said. “He’s the ultimate point guard in every aspect. He does a little bit of everything well, but more importantly his leadership ability is phenomenal.”
Hahn, whose brother Bobby was a key member of Northern Lehigh’s Colonial League title team in 2010, plays in the same mold as a hustling, scrappy and heady player. He knows his role.
“We have so many weapons on our team and it’s a matter of getting the ball to them,” Hahn said. “We have a lot senior players who have big-game experience. We’re looking forward to the challenge of playing Central Catholic again.”
