FROM MORNING CALL
Jason Kremus intercepted a pass during a freshman football game and returned it for a touchdown.
Along the way, the Northampton player jumped over an opponent trying to make a tackle.
That instinctive move triggered an idea for Tim Caffrey, Bernie Partridge and Ralph Fertig, who were at the game in various capacities.
A few months later, in the spring of 1986, Partridge, the varsity track & field head coach and junior high football coach, approached Kremus about giving the hurdles events a try.
