FROM EXPRESS TIMES

The 2013-14 boys basketball season begins in The Express-Times region Friday night with two top-10 teams in action.
No. 8 ranked Bangor, the defending Colonial League champion, hosts East Stroudsburg North in an independent opener in Upper Mount Bethel Township, while No. 4 Emmaus travels to East Stroudsburg South.
On Saturday, six Yasso-Rothrock Tipoff Tournament games will be played among the 12 Lehigh Valley Conference schools at three sites -- Bethlehem Catholic, Liberty and Freedom.
One of the most intriguing ones is Easton meeting No. 9 Dieruff in a 3:30 p.m. game at Bethlehem Catholic. Easton's Ben Childs will be making his coaching debut while Dieruff features 6-foot-6 senior Tyler Kohl, a Division I recruit who played at Notre Dame as a freshman.
