Central Catholic junior Muhammad Ali Abdur-Rahkamn is now 3-for-3 on all-state selections.
For the third straight year, the Vikings guard has been honored as one of the best scholastic players in the state by a panel of Pennsylvania sports writers. And this time the accolade was elevated to a higher level.
After years as a second-team selection in Class 3A, Abdur-Rahkman received first-team honors for the 2012-13 season.
In leading Central Catholic to a 24-4 record, its third straight District 11 3A title and a third consecutive first-round victory in the PIAA tournament, the Morning Call's player of the year and the Lehigh Valley Conference MVP averaged 21 points, four assists and six rebounds per game. He shot 61 percent from the field and 73 percent from the foul line.
With one more season to go, the 6-foot-4 Abdur-Rahkman has 1,429 career points.
In addition to Adbur-Rakhman, Bethlehem Catholic's Matt Husek was honored with a selection to the third team in Class 3A.
Husek, a 6-foot-11 center headed on a scholarship to Holy Cross, averaged 16 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Hawks who went 13-12 and qualified for the District 11 tournament for the first time since 2007.
Husek, who shot 55 percent from the field and had 28 points in a game against Distict 11 4A champ Parkand, helped Becahi reach the district final and advance to the state tournament for the first time since 2005.
