Wednesday boys basketball card: Three more LVC teams in action

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER It was a mixed bag in nonleague play for the Lehigh Valley Conference on Tuesday night. The LVC went 3-3 with Parkland, Dieruff and Becahi collecting wins, while Emmaus, Allen and Whitehall suffered losses. Three LVC teams are in action tonight, including Becahi which is going for back-to-back wins. The Golden Hawks host a Pottstown team that is 1-0 coming off a narrow win over Upper Perk. Expect Becahi to stay on a roll entering its LVC opener with Liberty on Friday night. Becahi 57-50. Freedom plays Holy Redeemer, which went from being one of the best in the state in 2010-2011 with 24 wins to 10-13 last year. This year's Holy Redeemer team is 0-2 and those were lopsided losses to Scranton and Scranton Prep. Look for the Patriots to stay hot and build momentum entering a big game against Easton on Friday. Freedom 75-50. And the third LVC team in action is Central Catholic, which begins a stretch of three games in four days. The Vikings play Hatboro tonight, Dieruff on Friday and Danville on Saturday on Wall of Fame Day (more on that later). I wonder when all of the football guys will be able to contribute. I know Dennis Csensits is looking forward to getting those guys back in the rotation. Haboro is coming off an 8-14 season, but has begun this season with a pair of wins, beating Mechanicsburg and Carlisle. District One teams always provide a challenge. This should be a competitive game. My pick: CCHS 63-58.
