http://www.d11football.com/news/12/16/north-allegheny-routs-coatesville-for-class-4a-title/ It was a game some thought would be a track meet, with speed and talent on both sides of the field. The District 7 champion North Allegheny Tigers (16-0) out played their counter part from District One in every facet of the game, in a resounding 63-28 victory, at Hershey Park Stadium on Saturday evening. This was North Allegheny’s third State Championship appearance, beating LaSalle College in 2010 (21-0) and Ridley in 1990 (21-14). This was Coatesville first ever appearance. Coatesville was down 28-7, after a couple of scoop and scores by the Tigers. Brendan Coniker returned the first one 80 yards for the score, for a 14-0 lead. The Red Raiders (13-3) would try to mount a scoring drive, but North Allegheny’s Kevin Edwards had other ideas, as he would match Coniker’s efforts with his own scoop and score, on a 52 yarder for a touchdown. It was 21-0. Coatesville had five turnovers in the game, transitioning into 28 North Allegheny points. Tiger’s quarterback and UTEP commit Mack Leftwich had a good night as the field general, as he was 16 for 20 passing on 199 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball 16 times on 90 yards, and a rushing touchdown. His backfield mate, senior running back Alex DeCiantis rushed for three touchdowns, along with his 21 totes on 115 yards. One his touchdowns, put the Mercy Rule into affect early in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard burst into the end zone for a 63-21 lead. The Red Raiders did have some highlights though. Senior quarterback Emmett Hunt rushed for two scores, and threw for another, completing the night, throwing 18 passes, completing 11 of them for 131 yards. His backfield mate junior running back Daquan Worley had a nice touchdown run down the sidelines in the second quarter. He rushed 17 times for 160 yards. There was too much skill and talent in the Tigers’ offense, as they had twice as many first downs (26-11), out rushed Coatesville (257-152) and had nearly 500 yards of passing (456-283). North Allegheny and Coatesville finished the game, combining for 91 points, the highest PIAA championship single game point total since the 2003 AAA Title game between Manheim Central and Pine Richland (77 points), which was played in double overtime.
