Sports Media Weekly No. 122- Darren Rovell & Mike Golic, ESPN

http://sportsmediajournal.com/page/3/ We are a day early this week for this edition of Sports Media Weekly. Ken Fang of Fang’s Bites and I begin the program by looking at the job TBS and MLB Network have done so far in covering the Major League Baseball Division Series. Overall we both feel the networks are doing a solid job. We then examine the move by Fox Sports to negotiate rights deals with individual universities to telecast their athletic events. Fox has focused on schools in the Big 12. We’ll see if they plan to launch similar deals with other schools in other conferences. We wrap-up our news segment by looking at the fine work done by NFL Network and ESPN on their respective A Football Life and 30 for 30 documentary series. We have another two guest program this week. First up is ESPN Sports Business Reporter Darren Rovell. When we last spoke with Darren he was still at CNBC. Darren shares with us what it’s like to be back in Bristol, what he’s been working on, the state of the NHL while in the lockout, and his reaction to last week’s 30 for 30 documentary Broke.
