New Miracle League venue will debut on Sunday

http://www.mcall.com/sports/columnists/groller/mc-miracle-league-northampton-county-0902-20120902,0,6519559.column FROM THE MORNING CALL Richard Agretto calls it "the diamond jewel of our community." Agretto, the former director of special education in the Bethlehem Area School District, was talking about the Miracle League of Northampton County, the new baseball facility that is set to make its debut with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony Sunday at 12:30 p.m. adjacent to the Charles Chrin Community Center in Palmer Township. This is the second Miracle League facility to open in the region, coming six years after the Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley opened in Heidelberg Township in 2006, and it's another opportunity to give kids and young adults with physical and intellectual disabilities a safe place to play a game so many of us have long enjoyed. The whole project has come together in less than two years and is a testimony to community unity. "It's a first-class, beautiful facility and the community, at large, has just wrapped its arms around this project and put its support behind us," Agretto, the president of The Miracle League of Northampton County, said. "The fact that we were able to pull this off in less than two years and raise the funds necessary for it happen … it just blows my mind. It's way beyond whatever our expectations were."
