Some MVC football stat stuff entering Week 4

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Always enjoy the weekly update provided by Duke Helm, the District 11 statistician, who does a masterful job crunching all the numbers from the entire district. In his just released report, Helm said that Austyn Borre's fast start for Pleasant Valley is not a big surprise. Borre has 465yards (13.7 yards per carry) in three games. Helm, citing the Lehighton Times News, said that Borre rushed for 5,152 yards (257.6 ypg) and scored 69 touchdowns in two middle school seasons. That's pretty amazing stuff. Borre's PV teammate, quarterback Brandon Leap, tied his own school record of four touchdown passes in a game with his big peformance against Pocono Mountain West. Two other PV quarterbacks have thrown for four TDs in a game -- Scott Gordon in 1971 and Derrik Walling in 2010. Leap, a junior who missed most of his sophomore season, also went over the 1,000-yard yards passing for his career. Pocono Mountain West's Jeff Krisiak of PMW went over 3,000 yards passing in his career and Pocono East's Evan Fardella went over 2,000 yards. Here are the single-game highs so far in all of District 11, again, courtesy of Helm: 2012 single game highs: Rushing yards (200): 289 Shane Simpson (Easton-1), 246 Austyn Borre (Pleasant Valley-2), 240 Jordan Gray (Nazareth-3), 224 Phil Vass (Bangor-3), 223 (3), 215 (1) Richie Smith (Panther Valley), 200 Mike Racciato (Pen Argyl-3) TDs (4): 7 Richie Smith (Panther Valley-3), 5 Shane Simpson (Easton-1), 5 Dalton Nunemacher (Tamaqua-2), 5 Ethan Motsney (North Schuylkill-3), 4 Colin McDermott (Central Catholic-1), 4 Austyn Borre (Pleasant Valley-2), 4 Ra'Von Burton (Catasauqua-2) Passing yards (200): 372-- Jeff Krisiak (PM West); 272-- Nick Cook (Northampton), 245-- Brandon Leap (Pleasant Valley), 229-- Pat Duvigneaud (Jim Thorpe), 228-- Zack Bradley (Catasauqua), 221 Ryan Dailey (Wilson-3), 219 Ryan Dailey (Wilson-3), 207 Brian Uliana (Freedom-2), 205 Frank Dangello (Northwestern-3).
