EAGLES TRAINING CAMP: Injuries mount in the heat

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Filling in for beat writer Nick Fierro at Eagles training camp today and it looks like not only Nick could use a day off. A grueling and intense mid-afternoon session in the 90-plus degree heat took a toll on the team as they approach their preseason opener a week from tonight. In addition to the many injured defensive linemen – Trent Cole, Jason Babin and Cullen Jenkins – who were injured even before Thursday’s sessions, several more guys were sidelined during the afternoon practice. They included wide receiver Jamel Hamler (right hamstring), safety O.J. Atogwe (right groin), linebacker Jamar Chaney (hamstring; will get an MRI), running back LeSean McCoy and safety Nate Allen (cramps due to dehydration) and offensive lineman Evan Mathis (shoulder). Also offensive lineman Todd Herremans did not participate and linebacker DeMeco Ryans appeared hobbled, but insisted he was fine. The Eagles also brought in former Temple defensive end Morkeith Brown for a post-practice workout because the team seems to be running out of bodies on the defensive front. Brown is a Harrisburg product having played at Central Dauphin.
