Former Lehigh star Josh Snyder expected to get Northwestern Lehigh football job

FROM KEITH GROLLER

I've heard from reliable sources that former Lehigh University football standout Josh Snyder will be introduced on Wednesday morning at a press conference as the recommended candidate for the head coaching position at his alma mater, Northwestern Lehigh.

I think it's an excellent selection.

As someone who covered Josh in his final season at Lehigh in 2001, I found him to be not only an exceptional wide receiver, but a first-class individual who was well-respected by his teammates, his coaches, everyone involved with the program.

As a senior on a team that went 11-1 in 2001, Josh had one of the best receiving seasons in Lehigh history. He caught 74 passes for 1,241 yads and 12 touchdowns.

I believe he will infuse the Tigers program with a lot of enthusiasm and creativity. Josh played for both Kevin Higgins and Pete Lembo at Lehigh and worked with current Mountain Hawks offensive coordinator Dave Cecchini. He grasped Lehigh's complex offense extremely well.

Josh is, of course, the younger brother of Brett Snyder, another former Lehigh/Northwestern standout. Brett has captured the hearts of everyone in the Lehigh and Northwestern communities with his courageous fight against ALS.

The Snyders have been beloved figures in the New Tripoli community and they have represented that community extremely well.

Josh's name will be given to the school board for approval on March 15.

We can't root for specific teams and schools in our business, but I am rooting for Josh to do well.
