Jim Karabasz confirms he will not return as girls soccer coach at Nazareth

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Jim Karabasz will not be coaching the Nazareth Area High School girls soccer team next spring.

"The best thing for me is to avoid commenting about it," Karabasz said Thursday night. "The best thing is to talk to Mr. Amato (Nazareth athletic director Rusty Amato) about it."

Amato did not return a phone message Thursday night.

Karabasz was named in December as Nazareth's coach, replacing Conor Fry who was The Express-Times Coach of the Year in 2010 after guiding the Blue Eagles to the District 11, AAA championship. The Blue Eagles posted a 12-5-2 record under Karabasz and lost 2-1 to Easton in the first round of the District 11 playoffs in May.

Karabasz utilized as many as six freshmen in his lineup this season and said Nazareth's future seemed even brighter with a strong eighth-grade class moving up to the high school this year.

"I wish all the girls well, and I loved the time I had coaching them," Karabasz said.

He said he will continue to coach the men's team at Lehigh Carbon Community College.
