CBS-Philly To Flip WYSP To WIP Simulcast

FROM 610 WIP

As rumored, CBS Radio-Philadelphia has announced it is flipping Rocker WYSP to a simulcast of sister Sports talker 610 WIP-AM. Starting Tuesday, September 6, (the day after Labor Day), WIP will be heard on 94.1 FM as "SportsRadio 94 WIP."

The station also announces a new, on-air lineup, following this week's announcement that longtime afternoon drive host Howard Eskin will step down from his airshift after September 2. Angelo Cataldi's morning show remains in tact, with Comcast SportsNet's Michael Barkann teaming with former Philadelphia Eagle Ike Reese from 10a-1p. Midday team Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow move to 1-6p, with Rob Ellis or Sixers and Flyers games in the evening. Eskin will remain with the station in a number of roles, primarily as part of the Philadelphia Eagles broadcasts

"WIP has a 25-year track record of being the premier sports station in Philadelphia and the move to FM is part of a natural evolution we’ve seen successfully work in several major cities across the nation," said Marc Rayfield, SVP/Market Manager, CBS Radio-Philadelphia. "We’ve always been a great sports talk radio station – now we’ll be located on a much busier corner in a larger neighborhood. One of the best years in Philadelphia sports has just become better."
