MONDAY'S MEMORIAL DAY EVENTS

Veterans Memorial Day Council of Easton Area will raise the flag at 8 a.m. at Centre Square. The Memorial Day parade forms at 9:15 a.m. on Jackson Street, between Seventh and 10th streets and departs for services at Easton Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. The parade proceeds south on N. Seventh Street, east on Northampton Street to Centre Square, for a program, The parade then continues east on Northampton Street to the Free Bridge for a brief ceremony. The parade will return to Centre Square for additional ceremonies. The parade will be held rain or shine; in case of thunderstorms, services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Gov. Wolf Building, 45 N. Second St., Easton.

The Thomas Paine Chapter 152 of Veterans for Peace of the Lehigh Valley will hold a Memorial Day Commemoration for all Pennsylvania military members who died in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2003 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Cedar Beach Park, Parkway Boulevard, Allentown. The display of tombstones, one for each service member from Pennsylvania, will be located east of Cedar Beach pool and north of Cedar Creek in the park.

American Legion Post 16, Slatington, will visit the following cemeteries: Catholic, Washington Street, 8:05 a.m.; Slatedale, 8:30 a.m.; Trout Creek New Covered Bridge, 8:50 a.m.; back to post home to form parade in Slatington, 9:30 a.m. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Main and Second streets and proceed to Fairview Cemetery for 10:30 a.m. services. Rain location, First Baptist Church, 509 Main St.

Sons of Union Veterans Reserve of the Civil War will take part in services at the following locations: Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Plot, Lincoln and Dewey avenues, Northampton, 8:15 a.m.; Allen Union Cemetery, Fourth and Main streets, Northampton, 8:45 a.m., rain location is Grace United Church of Christ, Ninth and Lincoln avenues, Northampton; St John's United Church of Christ, Howertown, 9:45 a.m.; Siegried Memorial Plot, W. 21st Street, Northampton, 11 a.m.

Macungie Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 9264 and Veterans of the Vietnam War Post 75 will hold services at 8:30 a.m. at Macungie Memorial Park Veteran's Memorial. Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Shoemaker Elementary School and marches along E. Main Street to Macungie Memorial Park band shell. Guest speaker is Col. James T. Anthony, USMC, Ret. Services follow at noon at the Lehigh-Northampton Vietnam Veterans Memorial, 287 Lehigh St. In the event of rain, the parade will be canceled and services will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Macungie Memorial Park auditorium, 50 Poplar St.

Martocci-Capobianco American Legion Post No. 750 Legionnaires, 143 Garibaldi Ave., Roseto, will depart at 8:30 a.m. for graveside services at 9 a.m., New Catholic Cemetery; 9:30 a.m., Roseto Presbyterian Cemetery; 10 a.m., Catholic cemetery next to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. At 10:45 a.m. there will be a community service at the war monuments at the Municipal Plaza on Garibaldi Avenue. David Graf, director of Veterans Affairs for Northampton County, will be the speaker. Rain location is the post home.

Emmaus Memorial Day parade, 9 a.m., will depart from high school parking lot and proceed to the Triangle where services will be held. Navy veteran Dr. Roger Whitcomb will be the speaker. Rain location, Emmaus High School auditorium at 9:30 a.m.

The Hamburg Memorial Day parade begins at 9 a.m. following a ceremony at the Hamburg War Memorial, Second and State streets. The parade ends with ceremonies at St. John's Cemetery, 55 Church St.

The Hartzell-Crouthamel Post No. 280 sponsors a parade beginning at 9 a.m. at Seventh and Chestnut streets, Perkasie. The parade will end at the Veteran's Memorial, Fifth Street and Park Avenue. Speakers are state Rep. Paul Clymer and Lt. Col. William Griffith, PAANG, vice commander, 111th Fighter Wing, Willow Grove.

West Easton Memorial Day services will be held at 9 a.m. at the West Easton Borough Memorial, 237 Seventh St.

Bethlehem parade, sponsored by the United Veterans of Bethlehem and the Harry F.W. Johnson Post 379, will begin at 9:15 a.m. at Liberty High School, 1115 Linden St., and proceed north on Linden Street to Memorial Park Cemetery. Maj. Gen. Gerald Still, Air Force will speak. Participating bands include Freedom High School and Northeast Middle School. The American Legion Band will provide prelude music at cemetery. Rain location, Liberty High School gym, 10 a.m.

American Legion Fullerton Post 367, 609 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall, will hold services at 10 a.m. at the post. 610-264-4342.

Bangor Memorial Day parade, 10:30 a.m., will depart from St. John's Cemetery, Sixth and Broadway streets and proceed to Founder's Park, Broadway Street, for services. Michael Galler, dean of students, Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School and Gulf War Veteran, and 1st Lt. Zachary Strawn, Gulf War veteran, will be speakers. Rain location, Bangor VFW, 202 Veterans Road.

Northampton Memorial Day services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Plot, 14th Street and Washington Avenue, Northampton.

West Bangor Memorial Association will hold services at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Site, Second Street. Frank Godino will be the guest speaker. Music by the Hope Gospel Quartet. Rain location is St. Joseph's Episcopal Church, social hall, Verona Avenue.

Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Airport Road, Allentown, will hold services at 11:45 a.m. Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin will be the keynote speaker. U.S. Rep. Charles Dent, state Sen. Pat Browne, state Reps. Jennifer Mann, Justin Simmons and Joseph Brennan, Lehigh County Executive Don Cunningham and Northampton County Executive John Stoffa are also scheduled to attend.

Tatamy Memorial Day services will be at 1 p.m. at the Tatamy Borough Municipal Building, 423 Broad St. Info: 610-252-7123.

East Bangor will hold Memorial Day services at 1 p.m. at East Bangor Cemetery. Richard Kitlar will be the guest speaker. Rain location is East Bangor United Methodist Community Church, 136 W. Central Ave.
