Girls Athlete of the Year voting on hold, hopefully for just a short time

FROM KEITH GROLLER

As I type this at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, there has been a problem with the Senior High School Athlete of the Year girls poll and it has been taken down from its online location.

If the problem can't be fixed soon and the poll is out of commission on Sunday, we will try to get it back up and running on Monday and will extend the deadline to midnight Monday night.

Because of this system glitch, you can also e-mail me votes -- even for people who are on the ballot -- to kgroller@mcall.com. And you can do the same for people who are not on the ballot. Please just write: I vote for (First Name) (Last Name). And please limit to one per e-mail address.

All who follow that procedure will have their votes added to the online totals.

**************************

We just received a late nomination from the proud mother of Parkland field hockey player Steph Goldberg. She wrote:

"Heading for Princeton University this fall to study Engineering and play top level DI Field Hockey, lettering at Parkland in Field Hockey and Soccer, PHSFHCA 1st Team All-State and All-Academic, NFHCA Academic Team, LVIAC All-Star, current member of the USFHA U17 National Squad, former EPYSA ODP team member, Parkland's Athletic Hall of Fame 2011 Inductee and LVIAC 2011 Outstanding Scholar, Steph Goldberg. What's more, her honors, clubs, and community work too long to list here are only superceded by her character and the respect and friendship of her peers. Okay, so I'm proud, who wouldn't be? Maybe you missed her."

So, Steph Goldberg is also up for write-in consideration.

Here is some info on the girls who were on the ballot:
