Wrestler Mike Fleck leaves Easton squad

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Mike Fleck, who began the 2010-11 wrestling season as the starter at 119 pounds for Easton, has left the team, head coach Steve Powell confirmed tonight.

Fleck, who lost to Josh Ortman in the Red Rovers' season-opening 41-21 win over Parkland, has not wrestled since that Dec. 12 match.

A senior, Fleck may be headed for Wilson. The NWCA website lists Mike Fleck at 112 pounds on the Warriors roster. A phone call to Wilson head coach Tom Mertz went unanswered.

Powell could not confirm that Fleck had transferred, and athletic director Jim Pokrivsak was unaware of the situation.

Pokrivsak said that while an athlete can practice at a new school, he would need District 11 approval as well as signatures from principals at both schools before competing.

Fleck was one of two Easton wrestlers, along with Mason McIntyre, who made the team's annual trip to the Reno Tournament of Champions but did not compete.
