Alewdy Rivera capped a third quarter uprising with two key 3-pointers tonight to lead Liberty High School's boys basketball team to a 37-32 victory over previously unbeaten Easton at Easton Area Middle School.
The Red Rovers (4-1, 1-1 LVC) led my as many as nine and were still in control at 26-19 before Rivera capped an 8-point run with a pair of 3s to give Liberty (4-1, 2-0) a 27-26 lead.
Easton regained the lead, 28-27, on James Middleton's baseline jumper before a fastbreak layup by Villanova-bound Darrun Hillaird gave the Hurricanes the lead for good.
"Anytime you play an Easton team coached by Jim Hutnik with good athletes, it's going to be a hard-fought game," Liberty coach Chad Landis said. "In the second half we picked up our defense and that was the turning point."
